This is a continuation of my Best Products List, where all the styling products I love most are featured. Here’s how they work and what I like most about each one!
Best Heat Protectant: Bed Head Some Like It Hot Heat Protection Spray - protects hair from heat up to 230 degrees Celsius while repelling humidity, reducing frizz, and softening hair. It strengthens and nourishes hair, including colour treated hair. It contains a frizz-fighting shield and leaves hair smooth, tangle-free, and shiny. It also smells like Jolly Ranchers to me.
I saw this product tested in a TikTok experiment using thermal paper to compare the performance of different heat protectants, and it was one of the best - if not the best - at protecting from heat.
Best Leave-in Condtioner: The Revlon Professional UniqOne Hair Treatment is my most popular product, and an all-in-one leave-in treatment that provides 10 key advantages. It detangles, moisturizes, adds shine, and protects hair from UV rays and heat, preventing brittleness. It’s suitable for all hair types, and is a must-have product for keeping hair healthy, smooth, and protected. It comes in all different scents, but Coconut and the original are my favourites.
Best Dry Shampoo: Living Proof PHD is an award-winning, lightweight dry shampoo that absorbs oil, sweat, and odour, leaving hair looking and feeling fresh without any residue. It extends the life of your hairstyle by adding volume and texture, making it perfect for days when washing isn’t an option. Ideal for all hair types, it’s fragrance-free and doesn’t leave a white cast, so it works great on both light and dark hair.
Hot tip: Apply dry shampoo at night to absorb oil overnight and wake up with fresher hair.
Best Volumizing Dry Shampoo: Big Sexy Hair’s volumizing dry shampoo adds instant lift and texture while refreshing your hair. It’s unique texture combines the benefits of both dry shampoo and a texturizing spray, leaving hair with fullness and body without a chalky residue. I love it for adding some extra grip before backcombing.
Best Volumizing Mousses:
Goldwell Top Whip is a lightweight mousse that provides flexible hold and volume without weighing hair down. It’s perfect for adding body to fine or limp hair, offering long-lasting results while leaving a smooth finish and natural movement. (Recommend for finer hair types - a little goes a long way)
Redken Full Frame offers a luxurious, full-bodied finish with a lightweight feel. It adds volume and texture while protecting the hair against heat damage, making it a go-to for anyone looking for soft, bouncy hair with added fullness. (I recommend this one to anyone wanting to try a mousse, but uncertain which mousse is best. This is the Goldilocks of the three.)
Kenra Volume Extra is known for it’s powerful, high performance formula. This mousse delivers maximum volume and lift, even for the most stubborn hair. It provides strong hold without stickiness, making it ideal for creating big, bold styles that last all day. (I recommend this to medium to thicker hair types)
Best Anti-Humidity Products:
Color Wow Humidity Shield is designed to be used before blow-drying on damp hair. The ultra-light mist creates an invisible barrier that protects against humidity, frizz, and flyaways. It locks in your style and smooths hair without weighing it down, making for a sleek finish. I recommend this product to all my summer brides to prep their hair before their wedding day style session.
Kenra Anti-Humidity Spray is a humidity spray meant for after styling, providing an extra layer of protection to keep hair smooth and frizz-free all day long. Its flexible hold ensures your style stays intact while the lightweight formula won’t leave your hair feeling stiff or sticky. I use this to finish off my client’s styles on especially hot and humid days.
Best Texturizing Spray: Sexy Hair High Tide Texturizing Spray is a finishing spray that adds texture, volume, and long-lasting hold to dry hair. With up to 72 hours of humidity resistance, this spray helps keep your flowy styles locked in place while providing a natural, touchable finish, and movement! Plus it smells like you’re on the beach. This is my go-to product for when I’m doing hair at the Boudoir Studio for photo shoots and the hair needs to move and flow, but also last.
Best Flexible-Wear Hairsprays:
Fave4 Workable Wear Hairspray is a flexible, medium hold hairspray that gives you the perfect balance of hold and movement. It’s designed to provide a natural, brushable finish that lets you restyle your hair through out the day without that crunchy feel. It offers long-lasting hold, humidity resistance, and a touch of shine for a polished, yet touchable look. Ideal for all hair types, but I love using this on curled hair, and loose updos.
Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray in Medium is a lightweight, medium-hold hairspray that adds shine while providing flexible, long-lasting hold, humidty-resistance and that famous Moroccanoil scent we all know and love. Formulated with nourishing argan oil, it helps keep hair smooth and frizz-free with leaving a sticky residue. The biggest takeaway from this hairspray is that it adds a luminous shine to the hair that pairs perfectly with round-brush blowouts.
